Thoughts from a Prayer Closet - PROMISES

When we felt called by the Lord to start Calvary Closets, it was a daunting decision. My husband needed to leave his job, and I had just retired. Taking such a significant leap of faith was intimidating, but we chose to trust in God’s promises. We believed in His love and provision, confident that following His guidance would lead us to what was best.

God’s promises, as revealed in the Bible, uplift us, provide encouragement during difficult times, and strengthen our faith. Some of these are conditional promises requiring our faith and obedience to His word. If we recognize we are a sinner, repent of our sins, and place our faith in Him as our Lord and Savior, He promises us eternal life. He also extends forgiveness to those who repent of their sins. On the other hand, some promises are unconditional, such as His unfailing love, His sovereignty, and that Christ will return one fine day.

Trusting God requires humility and submission. It means acknowledging Him as the sovereign ruler of our lives and aligning our actions with His will. Many people miss opportunities for blessings because they resist following God’s direction. This often happens when they rely on their own understanding, driven by impatience, insecurity, ambition, or misplaced desires. These impulses can lead us away from God’s best for us.

To stay aligned with God’s will, ask Him to reveal any areas in your life that are not fully surrendered to Him. Once He shows you, submit those areas to His authority. Commit to doing your best in your current situation while waiting for His direction. Trust that He is working for your good, as promised in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Refrain from relying solely on your own efforts to navigate life's circumstances and challenges. Instead, place your trust in God and allow Him to guide your path. Rest assured, His ways surpass our own, and His promises remain steadfast and true.
